When you return to your hometown under the guise for revenge and find more than you bargained for, what path do you choose to gain closure? Vengeance or Forgiveness?

Chrissy Dempsey’s debut novel showcases her writing talent, and she can only get better from here – which will be quite a feat considering Echoes of Deceit is an absolute winner!!! Dempsey manages to build a heart-pounding journey of deception, abuse, love, revenge, betrayal……gosh, so much more!!!

My fav part of any story is when each character is given their own voice allowing me to connect to them individually and Dempsey accomplished this flawlessly by giving the different POV’s for Annie, Sawyer, Connor and……well, the last is a surprise. Each character was raw, emotional, real, truly relatable with everything they experienced. With this style of writing, it compels you to truly join the story and become one with it sharing in every moment – joy, pain, betrayal. But to do one better, the plot twists and turns in this story were truly remarkable! I mean you aren’t far into the story when the first twist is thrown at you and then they keep coming! At one point I was sure we were done with the twists and turns, and the final twist came, and I hollered out loud – sorry to my hubby who happened to be asleep at that moment!

I can say from the very start I felt Annie to my core. I felt her pain, sorrow, anger, betrayal, judgement, need for revenge, love, heartbreak. Every. Single. Emotion. I was mad for her, at her, with her. Then we have Sawyer and Connor – no spoilers here, but I felt their emotions as well and those run the gamut from love to heartbreak to betrayal as well.

In the end, Echoes of Deceit brings you a dark, traumatic and emotional journey for our FMC, Annie, who is truly only seeking one thing and that is vengeance. Little did she expect to find so much more awaiting her return. Will Annie choose revenge, or will she choose forgiveness?

I for one, can’t wait to read the second book and can’t say much more without giving anything else away!
