Keeping You Close – Part Two
Jessica Lynn Sorensen Read 4/24/2025-4/24/2025
I’ve recently realized that I can no longer read anything by Jessica Lynn Sorensen – seriously, LOL. Every. Single. Time. Each new book I pick up from her instantly becomes my new favorite! She’s definitely on the short list of a select few authors I adore like this!
In my review of Part One, I mistakenly asked, “How does one sum up the most chaotic and twisty psychological thriller by Sorensen? Keeping You Close is how.” This wasn’t a challenge, ***looks directly at Jessica*** LOL! But now, Part Two truly answers that question. If Part One was the appetizer, Part Two is the main course!
Keeping You Close: Part Two is nothing short of a work of pure art when it comes to psychological thrillers. Sorensen once again delivers to us an intricately layered narrative that blends all the mystery, trauma, love, trust, mental health issues, regret, stalking, and any elaborate of plot twists you can imagine into an exhilarating second half. She’s undeniably a force to be reckoned with in the thriller genre!
In Part Two, we find Jordan recovering in the hospital after being shot at the lighthouse while heroically saving Amy’s son, Sawyer, who was kidnapped. The twist? Jordan doesn’t remember either of them, although other memories are intact. To complicate matters, Trevor’s ex-lover reappears, more vengeful than ever focused solely on destroying Amy. The neighbors and neighborhood may never be the same after what’s to come. Who will be caught in the crossfire? Can Amy escape unscathed, or is she in over her head this time? What will happen to Sawyer?
As in Part One, we can continue to explore the added character development of Amy, Jordan, and Trevor. We get a deeper insight into Jordan’s past traumas, which enhances our understanding of his relationship with Amy. We also learn more about Trevor and the year he spent out of touch with Amy and Sawyer. Seeing his vulnerabilities makes him more relatable, and while he’s still a jerk for what he did to Amy, we can at least empathize with his struggles. Amy’s past comes to haunt her causing her to revisit memories thought buried that she has to move past with all the danger lurking nearby.
This is a fast-paced read with smooth transitions between chapters and scenes — but that’s typical for Sorensen. The way she conveys complex emotions in short segments is incredible, ensuring that readers never feel lost. Her tightly focused plots and vivid characters create a strong sense of place, immersing readers directly in the story and heightening the emotional stakes. I found myself lost in the story not realizing that an hour had already passed and I needed to tend to familial commitments.
Keeping You Close: Part Two picks up from the unexpected cliffhanger of Part One and does not disappoint, delivering excitement and thrills throughout. As characters confront their past traumas, we witness their growth, and while this might be the conclusion of Keeping You Close, it leaves us longing for more. This book is a psychological thrill ride of epic conclusions you won’t want to miss!
Oh, and by the way, I’m currently in the hospital with 24-hour visiting hours and food delivery from 9 AM to 6 PM. Did I mention it’s because I’m in traction from all the twists and turns in this story? I’m amazed at how someone as sweet-looking as Jessica can craft such devious tales. I had one teeny, tiny, itsy, bitsy part figured out, so minute that it really isn’t impressive that I had it figured out, but I am bragging about that ONE part y’all. But by the end, my mind was reeling, and I had to message Jessica at 5 AM to get clarification on one thing. When she replied, it all clicked into place! ***smacks forehead*** She’s truly a goddess of dramatic plot twists that will make your jaw drop.
Grab your copies of Keeping You Close: Parts One and Two and dive into one of the most twisted, darkest psychological thrillers I’ve read in ages. You won’t want to put it down once you start!
Thank you to Jessica Lynn Sorensen for having me as an Alpha reader on this one, the excitement holding all this in has been excruciating! As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation by the author, present or future, for my review.
