~Robert Stahl Read 7/20/25-7/21/25
In his debut collection, Show Me Where It Hurts, Robert Stahl delivers a gripping array of horror and thriller short stories and poetry that will captivate fans of the genres. From haunting tales of loss to eerie paranormal encounters, Stahl’s work covers a broad spectrum of suspenseful themes.
Each story features vividly crafted characters that feel deeply familiar, despite the briefness of the narrative. Stahl’s ability to forge strong emotional connections with minimal words is remarkable, complemented by striking imagery that brings every scene to life.
The pacing is expertly controlled, keeping readers hooked from start to finish – at times, leaving me craving more. As someone who typically prefers novellas over short stories due to their fleeting nature, I was pleasantly surprised by how engaging and satisfying this collection proved to be that I devoured it in one sitting. My favorite being A Very Stable Zombie – while “horrifying” at the thought, I snorted with laughter at a few of the happenings.
Perfect for a quick read during a break, a palate cleanser, or a chilling bedtime tale, Show Me Where It Hurts is a must-add to your TBR list. You won’t be disappointed.
