On Tuesday morning, October 7, 2025 at approximately 3:10 a.m., my husband’s youngest brother passed away. I’ve not really talked about much more than my kids and grandkids here and there in my literary life. But my brother-in-laws are amazing men, and while my youngest BIL and I butted heads in the beginning years, once we clicked. WE CLICKED.
So, if any reviews promised for the remainder of the month are running behind a tad, please accept my apologies. I am going to do my best to stay up on them and get them out by the dates I promised. If there will be a delay or more than a day or two on reviews that are NOT date sensitive, meaning I promised you a post by date, I will get in touch with you and let you know. For those I have date sensitive promises to, I will let you know prior to the date it is needed if there is going to be any issues.
Because of this loss, I am going to fulfill all reviews already committed to. But I have decided to not take on any new reviews except for review teams that I am on for the remainder of the year. So, if I regularly review for you (like every one of your last however many books) or am on your regular review team I am still doing reviews. This is mainly for requested reviews on the side I get asked to do.
I hope everyone can understand, I have included my brother-in-laws obituary that I wrote as well as a video with a song, both created by me. We will be doing a Celebration of Life for him at the beginning of November, so after the holidays I will be back to my normal plowing through book self. Thank you for your kindness and consideration.

Marc William Brooks
8/3/1976 – 10/7/2025
It is with great sadness that the Brooks family announces the passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Marc William Brooks, 49, of Springtown, Texas. He passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Redmond, Oregon, to Chuck and Debbie Brooks on August 3, 1976 he graduated Sherman County High School in 1995. Growing up in Sherman County with his brothers, Rob and Cory, the small town streets belonged to them.
Moving to Texas in 2000, Marc spent his professional career as a commercial maintenance mechanic in the food service industry. Marc loved being in Texas.
He was passionate about BBQ’ng. Marc loved everything Nascar, especially Kevin Harvick. His all-time favorite country artist was Hank Williams Jr.
But the most important thing of all was spending time with his family. Never marrying or having children of his own, his nephews, nieces, greats were like his very own taking great joy in spoiling them all rotten.
But most of all, Marc loved his best friend, his beloved Boxer, Shotgun Freddie. Marc lost Freddie just this past summer.
In September 2025, the brothers and some family were blessed to take an Alaskan cruise together where spectacular views were seen and memories made. The best part was the time spent together as a family.
He is survived by his father, Chuck Brooks of Springtown, Texas; brothers, Rob and wife Karen Brooks of Rockett, Texas and Cory and wife Laura Brooks of Springtown, Texas; Niece Caitlin Krnavek and children Tyler and Hayden Russell of Rockett, Texas; Nephew Dylan and Wife Charolette Brooks and children Dalton and Lilly of Rockett, Texas; Nephew Brandon Brooks and fiance Jordan Smits of Springtown, Texas; Nephew Bryan Brooks and girlfriend Kenadi Blair and child Waylon Brooks of Bridgeport, Texas; Niece Ashley Jordan and boyfriend Matthew Vincentti of Azle, Texas; Aunt Elizabeth (Tootie) Kennedy of Moro, OR; Uncle Bill and Michelle Wallace of Pendleton, OR.
He was preceded in death by his mother Deborah L. Brooks of Springtown, Texas; Uncle Bob Kennedy of Moro, OR; and his beloved Boxer, Shotgun Freddie.
Marc will be remembered for his generosity, humor, love for his family, and famously hilarious White Elephant Christmas surprises. While his passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts and family, we are at peace knowing he is no longer in pain.
Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
There will be a Celebration of Life on November 8, 2025 for family and friends in Springtown, TX. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Marc W. Brooks’ name to a charity of your choice.
R.I.P. Marc E Marc
We will miss you, but you will never be forgotten.
