The Good Girls brings back our favorite characters who, at this point, need absolutely no introduction. Avery already laid the groundwork in book one of the Maple Brook Falls series and wastes no time diving straight back into the delicious emotional mayhem. One of the strongest developments here is River’s emotional and physical journey. Avery peels back the layers of his armor and allows us to see the vulnerability beneath the confidence, making him feel even more relatable and fully realized. Hunter remains a steady and vital piece of the dynamic, though we also get glimpses of a softer, more intimate side of him that deepens his connection to the group. Meanwhile, Holly and Ivy continue to serve as the emotional backbone of the foursome.
Together, these characters feel wonderfully human, stumbling over their own emotional shoelaces while trying to keep their hearts intact. Avery gives them room to make mistakes, grow, and occasionally spiral just enough to keep things entertaining, all without losing the bright rom-com sparkle that makes the series so addictive.
Avery transforms Maple Brook Falls into the Valentine’s Day version of a Hallmark movie that missed its exit, swerved into reality, and somehow became better for it. The story is heartwarming, genuinely spicy, and packed with flirty banter that radiates relationship goals brighter than a candy heart left too close to a candle. Beneath the swooning and chaos is the kind of romance readers secretly wish could arrive gift-wrapped in a heart-shaped chocolate box with free overnight shipping.
But beneath it all, The Good Girls is a story that beats with the reminder that love isn’t just a grand gesture; it’s in the small things – a forgiven mistake, a shared meal, an honest conversation, and allowing yourself to be brave enough to face life, even if it isn’t what others want for you.
