She carries the trauma of witnessing her best friend’s abduction, and her suspicion of everyone’s motives runs bone-deep. She’s our guide and our most unreliable narrator, papering over secrets with lies because she’s desperate to keep the truth in the ground. Then “Rosie” returns and strikes the match. Is she Emily’s redemption, a con artist, or something else entirely? Mock makes you love his characters and distrust them in the same breath. Pure genius.

He takes one of the oldest stories we know – Little Red Riding Hood – and revives it with a twist, where the scariest question isn’t what big teeth you have, but what big lies you’ve been telling yourself for twenty-eight years.

What Big Lies You Have is a dual-timeline thriller charged with grief, paranoia, and dread. The pacing starts steady, then ramps fast, and soon you’re riding the momentum that lives in the drip, drip, drip of revelation. You can feel the tension pulse off the page, priming you for twists that land hard. Mock earns his ending, too – one stone slips, and the whole hillside comes down in a landslide of revelations.
