Of course, I won’t forget to mention – IT’S MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!! As I get older, it’s not the day and act of celebrating because it’s my birthday. It’s the fact that I have been blessed to become another year older on this Earth. Another year blessed with family, friends, LIFE!!! Not everyone gets the chance to hit 53 – 20 years ago I would have scoffed at that number and said it was old. Now, I wear that number like a badge of honor. I look forward to another year of memories and reading. Another year of book reviews, book signings, making new friends and maybe some surprises!

For today’s review I went back December of last year when I was still a baby ARC reader and definitely a baby review writer. While I feel the review I wrote still gave accolades to the author, my revised review definitely reads smoother and includes more information to help a reader make an informed decision.

Feeling a Bit Murdery

There are so many quote worthy moments in this book that I would be rewriting the entire book if I used every one that got my attention. But, I loved the quote used in the book blurb and decided since it was already out there, instead of giving away some entertaining and intriguing quotes, I would just say this – READ THE BOOK! If you love S.T. Abby Mindf*ck, you will love Megs Hudson and Feeling a Bit Murdery.

Chasidy Virgin (FMC), resides in a state mental hospital – an abandoned state mental hospital that is – and in spite of her name, she is definitely no virgin. Chasidy is an enthralling character who spent time in a government facility known as Hell Form. While there, she was subjected to experiments that transformed her into a “superhuman” with unique “extras.” She uses these “abilities” to eliminate serial killers who prey on women and children. While her methods are unconventional, the end goal is the same – eliminate the scum. Bonus, she gets to taunt the schmexy FBI Detective Donovan Finch (MMC) by leaving bodies for him to find frustrating him because she is doing his job for him.

Feeling a Bit Murdery is a fast-paced, short novella built around a diverse cast of characters. I would have LOVED for more character development and a longer story (this is just me being selfish and wanting more because this was an amazing story), but for the length of the book Hudson keeps you focused on Chas and Donovan. Chas is relatable, well as relatable as a “superhuman” with her “abilities” can be. Hudson gives her personality that radiates from the pages making you laugh and feel the vengeance she’s out to give.

Hudson has presented us with an exhilarating ride of chaos and hilarity in Feeling a Bit Murdery. From the first page, the action grabs hold and doesn’t let go. I felt more like I was on a vigilante journey with Chas versus reading a book – each scene vivid and descriptive to the point you could just be there.

This book is definitely not for everyone – if you are triggered easily, I would approach with caution. Chas’ backstory is traumatic, but she overcomes and in my humble opinion, overtakes her past by doling out vengeance like its cake at a birthday party! Hudson explodes out of the gate and maintains a breakneck pace with Feeling a Bit Murdery right up until it’s incredibly abrupt – and frankly, disappointing – ending. I was left dangling on a cliffhanger, desperately wanting a sequel. Seriously, I even checked my Kindle, thinking I had to have missed pages!

I am hoping Hudson comes out with a sequel – much longer in length – because I really NEED more of Chas and Donovan in my life! Feeling a Bit Murdery is the book I devoured not realizing it was a book I needed to break up the monotony of the stress of everyday life and reground me. Hudson is on my radar for more books, she should be in your TBR pile by now with this one as well!
