So, I am currently on vacation but with the showdown going on in The Psychological Book Club Facebook Group, I wanted to get this one updated – it deserved an update.
Do Unto Others
–Mark Jenkins Read Jan 2025
ABCD – Alicia, Brooke, Cathy, and Dana – the Alphababes, as they liked to be called in college, made a promise to stick together through thick and thin—no matter what. No one knew then just how soon “thick and thin” would come—or to what extent.
The ABCD’s reunite to celebrate the union of one of their own, Alicia, to her beloved Ryan. But just after the wedding, tragedy strikes. On their way to their honeymoon, Alicia and Ryan perish in a fiery car crash. The remaining Alphababes know more than they’re saying. Bound by their college pact, they vow to take the truth about their dear friends’ death to the grave.
Almost a year later, Brooke, Cathy, and Dana are moving forward, finding love and building new lives. But just as they begin to settle, secrets resurface. Bonds are tested. Lives unravel. And the mystery surrounding that fateful night threatens to destroy everything.
Jenkins masterfully creates layered, authentic characters. Each woman is fully fleshed out with vulnerabilities and moral dilemmas that make them not just relatable but deeply human. You will love them, hate them, and feel every twist of emotion right alongside them.
The atmosphere is equally vivid. While Jenkins’ true strength may lie in his character development (seriously, Mark—bravo!), his settings pull you in and ground the drama with rich detail and a strong sense of place. The transitions are seamless, and the pacing is spot-on, always driving you forward, page after page.
Do Unto Others is a deep, dark psychological thriller packed with raw emotion. It opens with the gut punch of loss, then spins into a storm of manipulation, violence, phobias, and even animal abuse (thankfully minimal and not graphic).
And just when you think you have it figured out—think again. Jenkins is the kind of author who plots another twist while you’re still catching your breath from the last one. He keeps you on edge, questioning everything and everyone.
Do Unto Others is the kind of psychological thriller I crave – intense, emotionally twisted, and full of rollercoaster turns that will leave even the most seasoned reader breathless. Get ready for the wildest ride of your reading life with the Alphababes. Just when you think it’s over… it’s not.
And remember the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you… or NOT.
As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation by the author, present or future, for my review.
Also, don’t forget about Father’s Day coming up!!! I have listed the new Father’s Day shirts in Texas Belles Boutique and Livin’ the High Life – take a look around and if you are looking for something specific let me know I might have the design in my library of hundreds of thousands of designs. Also, treat yourself to a shirt from The Tx Lit Chic – my fav is still the Trigger Warning Shirt and I love wearing it around.
