Excuse me for a moment while I fangirl over here! This Jake series is truly one of my favorite dark, twisted, psychological, get in your head and mindf*ck you from sunup to sundown kind of series! Victor Peter has drawn out the darkness in me and exposed me for what I am – a dark and sick individual LOL!!!! Ok enough about me, onto my next review!!!

Viktor
On a side note, if my star rating was higher than a five I would max out this series on stars. Just saying. It’s not for everyone, we know that not all books are everyone’s shot glass of whiskey, but if you are into the dark and twisted psychological genre then I can’t recommend this series enough. You can expect to find Viktor available mid July!!!!
“He’s a connoisseur of chaos.” – Jake on Viktor
“I’m drawn. Not to his charm. Not to his bravado. To the way he saw through me. As if I was already inside his pages. As if the story wasn’t mine anymore.” –Viktor on Jake
“What happens when the artist becomes the hunted?” – Victor Peter on Viktor
The contrasting dynamics between Jake and Viktor are clear from these quotes. Victor Peter takes us on a deeper psychological journey – if that was even needed – unpacking the workings of Jake’s manipulative mind while introducing Viktor’s uniquely artistic expressions. For those unaware, that artistic expression involves murder. I was lucky enough to get an early glimpse of this narrative, and believe me, the wait for release will be well worth it. Buckle up, readers – Viktor is on his way!
The story dives into Viktor Black’s (MMC1) expressionism, showcasing how he transforms his passion for murder into hauntingly beautiful art. Viktor operates alone – hunting, capturing, and creating in solitude. Once he completes his gruesome work, he calls in Butch for cleanup. But, as fate would have it, he isn’t as alone as he thinks.
Jake Peterson (MMC2), introduced in his own debut novel in the series, is a slightly (okay, more than slightly) unhinged author who believes Viktor’s art is “too clean.” Claiming to admire him, Jake insists on revealing the flaws in Viktor’s methods. Meanwhile, Detective Margot Stone (FMC), the relentless “long arm of the law,” is determined to catch Viktor slipping up so she can put him away for good. Will Jake successfully script Viktor’s downfall? Can Margot finally put Viktor behind bars? And will Butch maintain his role without becoming a liability? Only by reading Viktor will you discover how each character navigates their tangled predicaments.
In classic Victor Peter style, the characters are so richly developed that we feel an intimate connection with them. The author masterfully draws out their vulnerabilities, struggles, and triumphs. Although Viktor isn’t your typical hero, readers can resonate with his emotional depth due to the challenges he faces. This authentic level of realism is rare to this extent among authors.
Viktor is filled with vivid imagery, creating an atmospheric world that pulls readers into the story, making it difficult to put down. Peter’s dedication to scene-building enhances the narrative’s flow, making transitions seamless and smooth. His writing possesses a lyrical quality; much like your favvorite song, you find yourself entranced, swaying along until the very end. His prose is haunting, engaging, mind-bending – addictive, even. I can’t help but fangirl over Victor Peter’s work; it feels like he’s crafting this story just for me.
While Viktor might not be for everyone, I wholeheartedly recommend it. This psychological thriller runs deep, leading readers on a chilling ride filled with unexpected twists and surprises. Just when you think you’ve figured out Jake’s ultimate plan, he switches gears, throwing you off course. Viktor, in turn, adapts to Jake’s new strategy, leaving you baffled and realizing you’re far from knowing where the story is heading.
In conclusion, I highly recommend Victor Peter’s latest release in the Jake series, Viktor. Prepare for a true mindf*ck – just like every book in this series. You’ll find yourself challenged to outthink not only the characters but also the author (spoiler alert: you won’t succeed). Viktor is a deep dive into the psychological thriller genre that captivates readers from the start. There’s never a dull moment, with ample action and scheming. If you’re seeking a tale that delves deep into the dark recesses of the mind – one that’s action-packed and unapologetically twisted – then Viktor by Victor Peter should be your next read!

Thanks for stopping by my little bookshelf on the web. I hope you enjoyed this review and will share my FB, IG and Blog if you did. You can find me under TheTxLitChic on all social media platforms (except TikTok – I haven’t quite made it there yet but I’m working my way that direction.) as well as my The Tx Lit Chic storefront where I peddle my bookish wearables and the like. Although Viktor is an odd post to promote Mother’s Day on, I am sure Viktor, Jake, Butch, Detective Stone and the rest loved their mothers so there is that aspect. I am adding new bookish shirts today, some specifically for moms, so be sure to get your orders placed in time for delivery before Mother’s Day. I will be putting the Mother’s Day shirts on sale for sure today as well. I am working on my other storefront as well, Texas Belles Boutique where I will have a wider variety of wearables such as country, Mother/Father themed, Faith based, etc. Click on the LinkTree and it will take you to the links for everything!
