Devil’s Ridge
~Michelle Powers
Being a fan of Powers‘ work for a while, I truly believe she has found her niche’ with Devil’s Ridge. To date, I have read over 90 books. Devil’s Ridge is easily in my top five, being Powers‘ strongest work yet. It releases on September 26, so take this as your cue to get it pre-ordered quick – but not so quick that you don’t read my review and leave a comment or like! (Please and thank you :p )
Devil’s Ridge is the story of sisters Susan and Sadie – the definition of “ride or die.” After Sadie endures a devastating loss, Susan is right there, refusing to let her sister go through this alone. Susan convinces Sadie that maybe a change of scenery would do them good – and allow Sadie some healing. The sisters visit their grandmother’s old cabin in the mountains along Devil’s Ridge – where they visited once when Susan was 6 and Sadie was 2. What starts out as a getaway, quickly dives into a nightmare. Strange knocks and sounds outside the cabin along with Susan’s unsettling dreams start to unravel long-buried family secrets. The question isn’t just whether this sisters will survive Devil’s Ridge – but whether they can escape the darkness that has followed them since childhood.
Powers masterfully fleshes out all characters – main and supporting. Susan and Sadie feel less like fictional creations and more like people you know. You live their heartbreak, loyalty, and fierce bond as it pulses from every page. The supporting characters add depth and detail without overshadowing the main characters – each quirky, unique, and memorable in their own right.
Devil’s Ridge is masterfully balanced when it comes to pacing, transitioning, atmosphere, and tension. The story is unique and rich with imagery – so vivid you don’t just read about the sisters’ ordeal, you live it. Equal parts psychological thriller and bone-chilling paranormal tale, Devil’s Ridge grips you from the first page and doesn’t let go until its final, twisted moments.
Devil’s Ridge is much more than a story of grief, resilience, sacrifice and the unbreakable bonds of family. Haunting, yet heartfelt, it’s a story that will stay with you long after you close the cover. Mark your calendars for it’s release on September 26, 2025 and definitely get your pre-order in now – you won’t want to miss this one!
